ModCell is a British company that has come up with a very unique product that mixes pre-industrial  straw-bale building with a decidedly post-modern sensibility – by creating a building technique using prefabbed panels incorporating sustainable straw-bales.

Velichko Velikov has created The Lovely chair in 2003 for the Design-engine’s Photoreal Competition and he was awarded for it. Later on the designer decided to make a set. The Lovely chair bar-stool win third place in Bulgarian furniture competition. The base of the chair is steel frame, upholstered with a fabric.

RVs are hardly the greenest of vehicles with their heavy carbon footprint — most have mileage under 9 miles to the gallon on the highway. They are surely prime targets for redemption in their afterlife.

Berkeley’s David Brower Center, a 50,000-square-foot building that opens this weekend is truly sustainably built; more than half of the construction is comprised of recycled materials, making this the worlds largest scavenged building.
The building is designed to be 40 percent more energy-efficient, using solar power both on the roof and incorporated into sun-shades on the South facade to moderate direct sun while harnessing sunshine for power.
