The Wallpaper magazine has named the Polish-based MooMoo Architects “one of the 30 most promising studios in the world”. This is the second time in history a Polish studio is honored with this title. We agree with Wallpaper editors and that is why we want to show you some of the amazing work they have done in contemporary architecture and modern home design. Frankly minimalist, their projects charm with their ingenious simplicity and sophisticated aesthetics.

1. Wow! What an easy way to let kids get a lot of exercise in a very tiny space. Simply attach a slide to the side of the stairs!
2. A bed that can’t be outgrown: this former baby crib simply becomes a sofa-cum-lions-den as the baby outgrows it!
3. A chair designed by Architect Michelle Kauffman – designer of the gorgeous Glide House prefabs, with a twist. This chair is actually made entirely of Kauffman-designed building blocks. Just the thing to bring out the creativity in your budding architect!

Here’s, literally, a treehugger’s house.
It is built on a steep sloping grade which made it possible to set the main level of the house up into the tree canopy, to evoke the feeling of being in a tree house.
Extending out into the forest canopy, the recently completed Wilkinson Residence seems to disappear into its surroundings.
The musician client wanted a house that not only became part of the natural landscape but also suggested the flow of music…
…And this lovely house truly moves through the forest setting like a piece of music …

U of Kansas grad students have just completed their chic Buffalo House in Kansas City, Kansas, designed with a very elegant approach to sustainability.
We are seeing more climate conscious design in architecture: In this case; the rain screen.
A skin over the house is designed to manage and harvest occasional heavy precipitation, to provide protection from premature decay from moisture intrusion.
I like the way the rain-screen is carried up over the roof and mounted flush with the photovoltaic solar panels on the roof for a sleek look while also protecting the …

We’ve all seen hundreds of recycled shipping containers being recommissioned as green sustainable recycled buildings. But with rising gas prices last summer, a lot of airlines were grounded, and far fewer now ply the skies with a smaller load of passengers. What to do with these massive structures? They are many of them simply parked in a massive airline industry recycling center in the desert.
But here’s…
… the first example of one being recycled for reuse, in Sweden. This decommissioned 747 jumbo jet last flew in 2002. It has been …

CLOUD by Tokujin Yoshioka for Moroso
Moroso brought a range of major new products to the Milan Furniture Show this year. The basic concepts for this year’s show are lightness and playing with images – things are not always exactly what they seem – and a study of forms, colours and fabrics: super sophisticated, high-tech and new.

“Cream, off-white and funky†is the description that best suits the amazing Kensington House by SHH Architects & Designers. Thus the property offers a spacious master suite on the first floor, dining room, family room, reception room, 5 bedrooms with en-suit bathrooms, pool and cinema room. Here’s an interesting idea. Take an old coal field and rehab it inside a solar powered glasshouse the size of a city block.
Then build freestanding buildings inside the outer shell of glass and solar cells. In addition to power from solar cells, capture and use leftover methane vented from the old mine for additional power generation.
But the extensive solar power system on its own creates enough power for far more than this complex. 1 Megawatt is about the size of a city sized coal power station. So the energy generated …
